  • Started as an independent project in my Moving Image Design College Program, now continued by me as a personal video blog commentary on pieces of fiction (whether written, spoken or broadcast) I've learned life lessons from.

Kyle's Fictions
Video Series:

Episode 1:
Life Lessons I Learned from Transformers: Cybertron

From my Moving Image Design Program- First Studio Week Project:

  • I thought I would start my video series by talking about one of my favourite cartoon shows as a teenager, which premiered in 2005 and introduced me to the Transformers franchise-Transformers: Cybertron. Be advised if you have not seen the show that this episode contains spoilers.

  • To also explain the intro saying "Season 1", originally I thought I would do the series in seasons. For time's sake though, right now I'm just doing the videos one by one when I can.

From my Moving Image Design Program- First Studio Week Project:

  • For my second episode I thought I would talk about my favourite movie of 2014 and favourite superhero movie- X-Men: Days of Future Past. Be advised if you haven't seen the movie that this episode contains spoilers.

Episode 2: Life Lessons I Learned from X-Men: Days of Future Past

Special Episode: How I First Read Dracula and Jekyll & Hyde: A Warning on Writing High School Novel Essays

  • For this special episode of my video series (also the first one I made at home on my own time) I talk not specifically about lessons from fictional stories, but from the circumstances in how I first read them. It is about what I learned after choosing the classic horror novels Dracula and Jekyll & Hyde for a high school comparative novel essay.

  • In the video I also thought I'd share some information on the history of the two novels, which I found interesting to learn about, for those who might be unfamiliar with them.

From my Moving Image Design Program- Final Studio Week Project:

  • Originally I had a much larger idea in mind for my final independent project, which involved talking about five pieces of fiction that had significant impacts on my life at five different times. Since I only had a week to finish my project though, I cut it down to just one. I liked the idea of doing the five parts however and decided to do it as a series I will release in five episodes which you can view on my site at an upcoming date. In this first episode I talk about what I learned from the Silverwing book series by one of my favourite Canadian authors, Kenneth Oppel. I want to point out that if you have not read and want to read the Silverwing book series, this episode contains spoilers.

  • I just also want to apologize for my not looking at the camera for most of the video. It is the result of my script, displayed on my laptop, being directly beneath the camera. Although I noticed the problem before completing the video, being in class, I only had my recording space for a certain amount of time. What is more, I was eager to finish my project by its deadline so, having spoken my script in a successful take, I decided to go with it. Now that I have my own teleprompter, this shouldn't be a problem with future videos.

Thank Heaven for Fiction Series:
